Target group
This course is designed for equipment operators who are primarily responsible for the wireline operational processes of well control.
Prerequisites
Prior IADC or IWCF certification is required. The training is role-specific and so previous experience in wireline operations is assumed. Please contact us to discuss candidate suitability if you have any doubts or queries.
Objective
The aim of the IADC WellSharp Service Company Equipment Operator Wireline Well Control course is to develop the candidate’s knowledge and understanding of the duties and responsibilities of an equipment operator during wireline operations.
Course content
The course is delivered over 4 days through presentation of a series of interactive lectures supported by videos and animations, supplemented by a classroom workbook and further self-study exercises. The topics covered during this course include; - Well control risk management and assessment - Well control principles and calculations - Well control barriers - Influx fundamentals - Gas characteristics and behavior - Completions and workover fluids - General Overview of Equipment (Surface & Subsurface) - Procedures (Bridging Documents, Rig Up, Drills) - Simulate Choke Drill, Line up Tree Valves - Reasons for wireline operations - Surface and Subsurface Equipment - Wireline pressure control equipment - Special Situations - Organizing Well Control Operation - Simulate Bullhead Method - Industry and government standards and requirements - Ancillary Considerations
Exam
Successful completion of the course and a minimum score of 75% in the written assessment will result in IADC WellSharp certification which is valid for two years.
