Target group
The OSHA Outreach Training Program for the Construction Industry teaches construction workers about their rights, employer responsibilities, and how to file a complaint as well as how to identify, abate, avoid, and prevent job related hazards.
Prerequisites
OSHA 10 Student course completion cards in the Construction OSHA Outreach Training Program do not expire. Please note that expiration dates may be imposed by other entities but are not an OSHA requirement
Objective
The 30-hour Construction OSHA Outreach Training Program is intended to provide a variety of training to workers with some safety responsibility. Training should emphasize hazard identification, avoidance, control, and prevention, not OSHA standards. Instructional time must be a minimum of 30 hours.
Course content
The mandatory (14-hours minimum) topic requirements in this course are: - Introduction to OSHA - Construction Focus Four Hazards - Fall protection - Electrocution - Struck By - Caught-in or between - Personal protective and lifesaving equipment - Health hazards in construction (including hazard communication - Stairways, ladders and scaffolds The elective (12-hours minimum) topic requirements in this course are: - Concrete and masonry construction - Confined space entry - Cranes, derricks, hoists, elevators, and conveyors - Ergonomics - Evacuations - Fire protection and prevention - Materials handling, storage, use and disposal - Motor vehicles, mechanized equipment and marine operations: rollover Protective Structures and Overhead Protection; and Signs, Signals, and Barricades - Powered industrial vehicles - Safety and Health Programs - Scaffolds - Steel Erection - Tools - Hand and Power - Welding and Cutting - Foundations for Safety Leadership
Exam
The candidate will be required to score a minimum competency of 70% on a written exam.
