Objective
The purpose of this course is to serve as a guide to crane owners and operators in developing safe operating and maintenance practices and procedures. The aim of this course is to bring a level of awareness to operators concerning the hazards of operating or working around crawler cranes. Getting proper training on crane operation, load preparation, and securing is vital
Course content
The topics covered during this training are:
- How to inspect slings to be used
- How to perform pre-use & monthly crane inspections and documentation
- Understanding the safe lifting triangle
- Defining the titles ¿Crane Operator¿ and ¿Rigger¿
- Interpreting load charts
- Determining load weights
- Understanding basic rigging
- Using a load angle indicator
- Discussing offshore crane situations (weight distribution and buoyancy)
Exam
The candidate will be required to score a minimum competency of 70% on a written exam.
