The purpose of the OSHA Outreach Training Program is to teach workers about their rights, employer responsibilities, and how to file a complaint as well as how to recognize, abate and prevent job-related hazards.

Objective
The 30-hour General Industry OSHA Outreach Training
Program is intended to provide a variety of training to workers with some safety responsibility. Training emphasize hazard identification, avoidance, control and prevention, not OSHA standards.
Instructional time must be a minimum of 30 hours.
Course content
The mandatory (12-hours) topic requirements in this course are:
- Introduction to OSHA
- Managing Safety and Health
- Walking and Working Surfaces, including Fall Protection
- Exit Routes, Emergency Action Plans, Fire Prevention Plans, and Fire Protection
- Electrical
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Materials Handling
- Hazard Communication
The elective (10-hours minimum) topic requirements in this course are:
- Hazardous Materials (Flammable and Combustible Liquids, Spray Finishing, Compressed Gases, Dipping and Coating Operations)
- Permit-Required Confined Spaces
- Lockout / Tagout
- Machine Guarding
- Welding, Cutting, and Brazing
- Introduction to Industrial Hygiene
- Bloodborne Pathogens
- Ergonomics
- Fall Protection
- Safety and Health Programs
- Powered Industrial Vehicles
Exam
The candidate will be required to score a minimum competency of 70% on a written exam.
To receive a course completion card, the student must attend the entire class and complete all class requirements, including all requisite topics and the minimum number of contact hours.
