Objective
This course will identify the hazards of incipient fire fighting and familiarize trainee with the general principles of fire extinguishment including; causes of fire, fire prevention, classes of fire, and suppression agents. Each student is required to pass Three Performance checks. The Checks are as follows: Proper Usage of a Fire Extinguisher, Preparation and Use of a fire hose, and Self Rescue Techniques. Course content
Upon completion the trainee will be familiar with: 1. Identify Fire Plan and Station Bill 2. Knowledge of the Fire Tetrahedron 3. List Causes /Prevention of Fire 4. Identify Modes of Heat Transfer 5. Explain Phases of fire growth 6. Classify Types of Fires 7. Explain Extinguishing Methods 8. Identify Suppression Agents 9. Portable Extinguisher Identification/Inspection 10. Identify Fire Fighting Priorities 11. Fire response using dry chemical, CO2, and basic hose handling skills
