Objective
To provide participants with the knowledge and skills relating to the techniques associated with various manually lifting scenarios and the requirements of a suitable and sufficient Risk Assessment
Course content
Participants will be coached theoretically and practically to ensure they have the knowledge and skills about the following: • Safety in manual handling operations • Compliance with relevant legislation / regulations. • Lifting aids are fully identified, traceable and marked accordingly. • Informing personnel of their manual handling obligations • Maintaining accurate and meaningful records. • Making a suitable and sufficient risk assessment of manual handling operations • Taking appropriate steps to reduce the risk of injury and draw valid and reliable conclusions from assessments • Making a clear record of any assessment and communicate the findings • Providing any special information or training where required for the safe performance of the manual handling operation Practical Assessment will include: • Using HSE Manual Handling Assessment Chart (MAC Tool) • Conducting assessments of Manual Handling (One person and team handling operations) on the basis of: o Planning o Collecting Evidence o Making a judgement
Exam
Delegates will be assessed against the topics specified in the Content Section. Delegates will be required to undertake a written test. The pass mark for this course is 80%. Should a delegate encounter challenges to meet these Learning Outcomes, RON shall provide additional coaching as an opportunity to meet those requirements.
