Target group
This course is designed for personnel that intend to work in the role of Fast Rescue Craft Boatman aboard an Emergency Response and Rescue Vessel (ERRV).
Prerequisites
None required.
Objective
This course is designed to meet the initial emergency response training requirements for the role of an ERRV FRC Boatman.
Course content
Delegates will be able to demonstrate an understanding of the following learning outcomes theoretically and practically: • Assisting in preparation, launch and recovery of the FRC • Assisting in the rescuing and recovering of a casualty • Assessment and treatment of casualty’s injuries • Basic boat handling and use of communication equipment • Towing operations Practical Requirements 1. Launching arrangements of a type commonly fitted in merchant vessels to stow, launch and recover FRBs, sited so as to allow launching into the water; 2. An area of open tidal water where practical exercises in all aspects of rescue and in the launching, handling, manoeuvring and recovery of fast rescue boats (including operating the boat at a safe speed for a prolonged duration in the prevailing conditions) can be undertaken;
Exam
Delegates are assessed against industry agreed competency standards. Should delegates fail to meet these standards RelyOn Nutec shall provide additional coaching to provide the delegate with as much of an opportunity as possible to meet those requirements.
