Target group
This course is designed for persons who adopt the role of Fire Warden in the event of an emergency on their facility.
Prerequisites
None required
Objective
This training provides participants with the knowledge and skills to prevent fire emergencies and also teaches them how to manage and control such emergencies should they arise. These individuals will be given specific responsibilities in the emergency response plan.
Course content
Delegates who successfully complete this course will acquire the following knowledge and skills: Theory • Theory of combustion and nature of fires • Different ‘classes’ of fire • Firefighting equipment (types of extinguishers) • Self-rescue technique • Fire prevention and safety inspections • Roles and responsibilities of Fire Warden • Fire detection and fire warning • Emergency Control Organisation /Evacuation Practical • Use of Fire blanket • Use of various types of Fire Extinguishers • Use of fire hose reel • Self-rescue techniques without respiratory equipment • Facility evacuation and mustering
Exam
Delegates will be assessed against the Learning Outcomes specified in the Content Section using direct observation. Should a delegate encounter challenges to meet these Learning Outcomes, RON shall provide additional coaching as an opportunity to meet those requirements
