This course is aimed at those who are new to industry or those whose employer may require them to occasionally work at height.

Objective
This course is designed to introduce learners to the principles and equipment involved in modern working at height systems.
Course content
Learners who successfully complete will acquire the following knowledge and skills:
Theory:
1. Regulations, Statistics and Planning
2. Introduction to the Hierarchy of Risk
3. Fall Avoidance
4. Work at Height Techniques
5. Selection and Safe use of Harnesses
6. Selection and Safe use of Lanyards and Energy Absorbers, Karabiners and Connectors
7. Anchor Point Selection
8. Rescue Systems
9. Suspension Trauma
10. Job Hazard Analysis
Practical:
1. Identification of equipment, to include types of visual damage
2. Correct donning of Harness, including pre-use checks
3. Work restraint systems
4. Fall arrest systems
Course Handout: RON will provide a Working copy of The International Working at Height Handbook.
Exam
Learners will be assessed against the Learning Outcomes specified in the Content Section using direct observation and oral and/or written questions as appropriate. Learners will be required to undertake a written assessment.
The pass mark for this course is 80%.
Should a learner encounter challenges to meet these Learning Outcomes, RON shall provide additional coaching as an opportunity to meet those requirements.
