This course is designed for persons who adopt the role of Fire Warden in the event of an emergency on their
facility.
Prerequisites
None required
Objective
This training provides participants with the knowledge and skills to prevent fire emergencies and also teaches them how to manage and control such emergencies should they arise. These individuals will be given specific responsibilities in the emergency response plan
Course content
Learners will undergo theoretical and practical coaching in the following subjects.
Theory
1. Theory of combustion and nature of fires
2. Different ‘classes’ of fire
3. Firefighting equipment (types of extinguishers)
4. Self-rescue technique
5. Fire prevention and safety inspections
6. Roles and responsibilities of Fire Warden
7. Fire detection and fire warning
8. Emergency Control Organisation /Evacuation
Practical
1. Use of Fire blanket
2. Use of various types of Fire Extinguishers
3. Use of fire hose reel
4. Self-rescue techniques without respiratory equipment
5. Facility evacuation and mustering
Exam
Learners are assessed against industry agreed competency standards. Should Learners fail to meet these standards, RelyOn shall provide additional coaching to provide the learner with as much of an opportunity as possible to meet those requirements.
