This course is designed for persons who are required to enter and work in a confined space.

Objective
This course provides delegates with appropriate knowledge and skills to plan and execute a safe
entry into confined spaces.
Course content
Delegates who successfully complete this course will acquire the following knowledge and skills:

2. Roles and Responsibilities (Entrant, Attendant, Entrant supervisor, Rescue personnel)
3. The Entry Permit
4. Interaction of Personnel
5. Hazard Identification & Assessment
6. Air Monitoring
7. Controlling Hazards
8. Personal Protective Gear
9. General Safe Work Practices
10. Safe Tool and Equipment Use including atmospheric monitors
11. Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) use and care
12. Emergency Retrieval and Fall Protection
13. Communication Procedures
14. Dealing with Claustrophobia
15. Emergency Provisions
16. Concluding the Entry
Practical
1. Inspection and donning of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including SCBA
2. Single entry into Confined space with PPE in limited visibility
3. Group entry into Confined space with PPE in limited visibility
4. Single exit from Confined space with PPE in limited visibility
5. Group exit from Confined space with PPE in limited visibility
Exam
Delegates will be assessed against the Learning Outcomes specified in the Content Section using
direct observation and oral and/or written questions as appropriate. Delegates will be required to
undertake a written test. The pass mark for this course is 80%.
Should a delegate encounter challenges to meet these Learning Outcomes, RON shall provide
additional coaching as an opportunity to meet those requirements
