This program is designed to meet the further offshore safety and emergency response training requirements for personnel working in the offshore oil and gas industry in a tropical environment.
Prerequisites
1. A valid (in-date) OPITO-approved BOSIET, TBOSIET, BOSIET (with CA-EBS), FOET, TFOET or FOET (with CAEBS) certificate
2. A valid Offshore Energies UK Medical or an industry equivalent
Objective
This Product introduces learners with the opportunity to practise and demonstrate emergency response skills
that are not possible to practise during drills, exercises and emergency training offshore.
The objectives of the T-FOET are that learners will be able to:
a) Demonstrate, in a simulated environment, that they can use the safety equipment and follow procedures
in preparing for and during helicopter emergencies – with particular focus on escaping from a helicopter
following ditching.
b) Demonstrate that they can use basic firefighting equipment effectively and use self-rescue technique s in
low visibility and completely obscured visibility situations e.g. smoke-filled areas.
c) Demonstrate that they can perform basic first aid.
Course content
Assessments are carried out against the OPITO standard Tropical Further Offshore Emergency Training;
OPITO Standard Code: 5614
During these assessments candidates must demonstrate competence across the following modules:
Further Helicopter Safety and Escape – Tropical
Further Fire Fighting and Self Rescue
Further Emergency First Aid
During the training programme, learners will be required to demonstrate their knowledge and skills following key areas:

Knowledge - The learner will understand:

Outcome 2: Practical Helicopter Escape Techniques
Further Firefighting and Self Rescue
Skills - The learner will perform:
Outcome 1: Raising the alarm and operation of hand-held extinguishers
Outcome 2: Self-Rescue Techniques
Further Emergency First Aid
Knowledge - The learner will understand:
Outcome 1: Emergency First Aid
Skills - The learner will perform:
Outcome 2: Immediate first aid techniques
Exam
Learners will be assessed against the Outcomes specified in the Content Section using direct observation and oral and/or written questions as appropriate.
Should a learner encounter challenges to meet these Outcomes, RON shall provide additional coaching as an
opportunity to meet those requirements
