This programme is designed to meet the further offshore safety and emergency response training requirements for personnel working in the offshore oil and gas industry who will be supplied with a compressed air emergency breathing system (CA-EBS) during offshore helicopter travel.
Prerequisites
1. A valid (in-date) OPITO-approved BOSIET (with CA-EBS), BOSIET (with EBS), TBOSIET, FOET (with CA-EBS), FOET (with EBS) or TFOET certificate.
2. A valid Offshore Energies UK Medical or an industry equivalent
Objective
The objectives of the FOET (with CA-EBS) are that learners will be able to:
1. Demonstrate, in a simulated environment, that they can use the safety equipment and follow procedures in preparing for and during helicopter emergencies – with particular focus on escaping from a helicopter following ditching.
2. Demonstrate that they can use basic firefighting equipment effectively, and use self-rescue techniques in low visibility and completely obscured visibility situations e.g. smoke-filled areas.
3. Demonstrate that they can perform basic first aid..
Course content
Assessments are carried out against the OPITO standard Further Offshore Emergency training with Compressed Air Emergency Breathing (CA-EBS); OPITO Standard Code: 5850
During these assessments candidates must demonstrate competence across the following Modules:
Further Helicopter Safety and Escape CA-EBS
Further Fire Fighting and Self Rescue
Further Emergency First Aid
Exam
Learners will be assessed against the Learning Outcomes specified in the Content Section using direct observation and oral and/or written questions as appropriate.
Should a learner encounter challenges to meet these Learning Outcomes, RON shall provide additional coaching as an opportunity to meet those requirements.
