Personnel on fixed/moving installations manning the Fast Rescue Craft (Large Boat) according to the guidelines from Norwegian Oil and Gas (NOROG).
Prerequisites
Basic Safety Training.
Objective
Upon completion of the course, delegates should be able to:
- Man, launch and operate the Large Fast Rescue Craft in a safe manner.
- Use relevant equipment onboard.
- Perform search and rescue operations, as well as performing first aid on injured personnel.
Course content
- Use of the boat.
- Rules/regulations/chain of repsonibility.
- Controlling the boat and equipment.
- Duty and tasks of the crew before, during and after an FRC operation.
- Procedures for launching and raising the boat.
- Manouvering.
- Search and search patterns in daylight (not at night).
- Coordinate rescue operations towards ships or installations.
- Introduction and training in the use of equipment for navigation (radar, GPS and chartplotter)
- Use of instruments for use of VHF-emergency beacon transmitter and radartransponder.
- Correct pick-up of personnel from the sea.
- Use of transportable first aid equipment.
- Practical first aid.
- Transfer techniques to vessels or installations.
- Communication training (VHF/UHF)
