Any applicant who successfully completes Lifeboat Coxswain Annual Refresher ensures that personnel assigned as lifeboat coxswains remain proficient in launching, maneuvering, and recovering survival craft, as well as managing passengers and coordinating emergency response activities.

To be eligible to take this course, the participant must have:
Valid Lifeboat Coxswain / PSC (Proficiency in Survival Craft) certification
Completion of an approved lifeboat or survival craft course
Current offshore medical (if applicable)
The Code of Federal Regulations 46 CFR 10.403(a)(3) requires training to be administered entirely in the English language unless specifically approved to be presented in another language.
Students must be able to read and write in English to take the written exam and successfully complete the course.
Objective
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Demonstrate the ability to take command of a lifeboat during and after launching
- Safely prepare, launch, maneuver, and recover a lifeboat
- Conduct man overboard (MOB) recovery operations
- Apply effective leadership, communication, and crew coordination
- Manage passengers and ensure survival at sea until rescue
- Operate and maintain lifeboat engines and onboard equipment
- Execute emergency procedures in accordance with company and regulatory requirements

Exam
There is no written assessment. The delegate must successfully perform all practical exercises to pass the course.
