This course is designed for persons who are involved in any type of rigging or lifting operations; especially those who have already qualified prior to the introduction of LOLER.

Objective
• Designed to update delegates on legislation and regulations applicable to lifting operations, lifting appliances and accessories. The course also covers planning, risk assessment and includes practical rigging scenarios to test the theory.
Course content
Delegates who successfully complete this course will acquire the following knowledge and skills:
- Updates on Current Legislation and Regulations (LOLER etc.)
- HSE Guidance / Safety Requirements
- Planning Rigging Operations and Risk Assessment
- Practical Lifting Exercises
Course Handout: Delegates are required to bring their copy of The International Rigging & Lifting Handbook. If not, RON will provide a loaner copy.
Exam
Delegates will be assessed against the Learning Outcomes specified in the Content Section using direct observation and oral and/or written questions as appropriate. Delegates will be required to undertake a written test. The pass mark for this course is 80%.
Should a delegate encounter challenges to meet these Learning Outcomes, RON shall provide additional coaching as an opportunity to meet those requirements.
Delegate will also receive a NSL/RON Rigging and Lifting Logbook, this is a record of lifting operations that the delegate participates in whilst at the worksite. This logbook represents experience in Lifting Operations for the delegate as well as their company. It is recommended that it is maintained as part of the delegate’s personal development records.
