Helideck Emergency Response Team Member (HERTM)

The target audiences are the personnel who are appointed to, or to be appointed to, the role of an Helideck Emergency Response Team Member (HERTM).

A valid OPITO Helideck Operations Initial Training Certificate or a valid OPITO Offshore Helideck Assistant (HDA) Initial Training Certificate Or b) A valid OPITO HERTM or OPITO HERTL Workplace Competence Assessment Or c) A valid OPITO Helideck Emergency Response Team Leader Training Certificate Or d) A valid OPITO Helideck Emergency Response Team Leader Further Training Certificate Medical Entry Requirements: Possess a valid, current offshore medical certificate or Possess an operator approved medical certificate and Undergo medical screening by the OPITO approved Centre.

OPITO Code: 7041 To equip Offshore Helideck emergency response personnel with the knowledge, understanding and skills required to perform an emergency response team member role in offshore helideck and helicopter emergencies. Theory: - The key role and key responsibilities of the HERTM - The main elements of helideck emergency response plan - Types of potential offshore helideck emergencies - The general firefighting safety goals and objectives - The purpose of typical helideck emergency systems and controls - Explain the main differences between helideck emergency response on a main fixed or floating installation and a normally unattended installation (NUI) - Human factors affecting emergency response - Emergency response hazards, equipment and controls - Firefighting equipment used in emergency response - Search and rescue principles involved in emergency response Practical: - Carrying out effective emergency response to incidents on or around a Helideck - Using firefighting equipment correctly - Executing search and rescue activities No. of learners: Minimum 4 & maximum 12 Mode: Classroom training with practical demonstration & exercises on Helicopter prop simulating the offshore helideck emergency scenarios.
