CA-EBS (OPITO 5904)

This product is for personnel that are issued with Compressed Air Emergency Breathing System (CA-EBS) whilst travelling to work by helicopter and may be required to use a CA-EBS in the event of an emergency.

At the start of the training the delegate should be: - In possession of a valid ID (passport or drivers licence) - In possession of a valid BOSIET/FOET/HUET/T-BOSIET/T-FOET/T-HUET (or Industry agreed equivalent) certificate prior to attending the OPITO Dry Compressed Air Emergency Breathing System (CAEBS) Initial Deployment Training programme.. Medical Entry Requirements Training activities contained within this Product may include physically demanding and potentially stressful elements. All personnel who participate in such activities must be capable of participating fully. OPITO-approved Centres are therefore required, as a minimum, to ensure that prior to participating in practical exercises, suitable and sufficient risk assessments are in place and that the learners must either: a) Possess a valid, current offshore medical certificate OR, b) Possess an employing company approved medical certificate equivalent to an offshore medical certificate OR, c) Possess a valid, unexpired, medical certificate of fitness to work at sea, OR, d) Possess a valid and current certificate of medical fitness for diving at work. OR, e) Undergo medical screening by completing an appropriate medical screening form provided by the OPITO-approved centre

The OPITO approved Compressed Air Emergency Breathing Systemen (CAEBS) Training is designed for offshore workers travelling to work by helicopter and may be required to use a CA-EBS in the event of an emergency. During the training delegates learn about the fundamental differences between a re-breather and compressed air systems, the rational and use of the CA-EBS in helicopter emergency situations and the hazards associated with CA-EBS. Objective: To ensure that delegates gain the required knowledge and understanding of the particular hazards and properties of a CA-EBS and appropriate practical emergency response actions to take should the requirement for emergency deployment arise.
