Target group
This 24-hour training is intended for offshore and onshore oil and gas personnel responsible for the operation, maintenance, inspection, supervision, or management of production facilities and process safety systems. Target participants include production operators, control room operators, instrument and electrical technicians, maintenance personnel, supervisors, engineers, and HSE professionals who require an understanding of API RP 14C safety system requirements, hazard identification, emergency shutdown systems, fire and gas detection, and safety device testing to support safe and compliant operations. This course is not API approved.

Objective
Upon successful completion of this training, participants will be able to: - Explain the purpose, scope, and application of API RP 14C in the design and operation of oil and gas production facilities. - Identify process hazards and abnormal operating conditions using Process Component Analysis (PCA) and Safety - Analysis Function Evaluation (SAFE) methodologies. - Describe the function and operation of key process safety devices, including pressure, level, temperature, flow, and emergency shutdown systems. - Interpret safety system symbols, logic diagrams, and shutdown schematics used within production facilities. - Explain the purpose and functionality of Emergency Support Systems (ESS), including fire and gas detection, alarm, communication, and emergency power systems. - Identify protection requirements for common production equipment such as separators, pumps, compressors, vessels, and piping systems. - Describe the principles and applications of High Integrity Pressure Protection Systems (HIPPS). - Explain requirements and controls associated with safety system bypasses and temporary overrides. - Describe inspection, testing, verification, and maintenance requirements for process safety systems and safety critical devices. - Apply API RP 14C principles to support safe operations, regulatory compliance, and the prevention of process safety incidents.

Exam
