Target group
This training programme is designed to provide aircrew with the necessary skills and knowledge required to safely operate Short Term Air Supply Systems (STASS) during simulated water ditching scenarios.
Add Pre Requisites
All participants should have previously undertaken basic underwater escape training Delegates attending this training programme must be medically fit and in possession of a current medical fitness certificate.
Objective
The course consists of a combination of classroom theory and practical exercises in the use of short term air supply systems. Each participant will complete a written examination to confirm their understanding of the hazards involved with breathing compressed air underwater. Delegates will be coached and assessed in the practical application of STASS in simulated exercises, which are designed to demonstrate understanding and competence in the operation of the equipment by the user.
Course content
Understanding the physics of Short Term Air Supply Systems ( STASS ) Use of STASS equipment in the following scenarios: 1.Breathing underwater in a controlled environment 2.Utilising STASS to escape from a shallow water egress trainer 3.Use of STASS in a partially submerged Underwater Escape trainer 4.Use of STASS to effect an escape from a capsized Underwater Escape Trainer 5.Use of STASS to affect escape from an Under Water escape training simulator in varying light conditions, and using alternative exits
Exam
Course completion certificate will be issued to all delegates who successfully complete the training programme
