HAZWOPER Annual Refresher

This course is intended for those who previously completed 40- or 24-hour HAZWOPER training to satisfy 29 CFR 1910.120(e)(1). These include general site workers (such as equipment operators, general laborers and supervisory personnel) engaged in hazardous substance removal or other activities which expose or potentially expose workers to hazardous substances and health hazards.

A current, valid HAZWOPER 40-, 24-, or 8 hour refresher certificate.

Upon completion, the learner be will able to: - Re-familiarize themselves with the safety and health procedures used at the workplace; - Understand the hazards they may confront at the jobsite; - Identify the controls or PPE necessary to protect themselves from these hazards; and - Perform assigned duties and functions in a safe and healthful manner.

The topics covered during this training are items specified in 1910.120(e)(2) and/or 1910.120(e)(4): - Names of personnel and alternates responsible for site safety and health; - Safety, health and other hazards present on the site; - Use of personal protective equipment; - Work practices by which the employee can minimize risks from hazards; - Safe use of engineering controls and equipment on the site; - Medical surveillance requirements, including recognition of symptoms and signs which might indicate overexposure to hazards; and - The contents of paragraphs (G) through (J) of the site safety and health plan set forth in paragraph (b)(4)(ii) within 1910.120.
