ECITB Appointed Person - Moving Loads

The ECITB Appointed Person Moving Loads course has been designed for steel erectors and Riggers working within the Engineering Construction Industry who are looking to develop the necessary skills and knowledge to manage and plan the types of lifts or moving loads operations that occur within the industry.

All persons attending the course must meet the following criteria: Level 3 Vocational Qualification in Steel Erecting or Rigging with a minimum of 3 years post training experience in the workplace All candidates entering the APML role for the first time or as part of refresher training will require an ECITB Letter of Endorsement form to be completed by their current employer a current CV detailing experience and training

ECITB Appointed persons Moving Loads course delivers the necessary skills and knowledge to manage and plan the types of lifts or moving loads operations that occur within the industry.

Day 1: Legisaltion, Safe working practices and Procedures: LOLER, PUWER, HASAWA, BS7121, COPSULE, MHSWR, HSE, LEEA Day 2: Roles and Responsibilities: Planning Rigging operations Determining Communication requirements Control of rigging operations Leadership & Management of rigging teams Supervision and coaching of team members Organisation/project lifting chain of command Day 3: Calculating Forces: Equipment/resource requirements Calculating load weights, snatch blocks and angles Forces applied during cross hauling Tension applied on slings at different angles Calculating CoG Required competency levels Lifting Equipment selection and assurance checks Lifting points selection and safe and ready to be used Inspection of lifting equipment before and after task Day 4: Practical - Planning and performing the rigging task: Generate Lift Plans Generating risk assessments Generating & delivering Toolbox Talks Briefing the liftinfg team Confirmation of Lifting team understanding End of Course examination
