STCW - Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats other than Fast Rescue Boats

Persons to be included as the ships operating crew who must operate liferafts, lifeboats and man-over-board boats.

Before admission to the course the student must - Be of at least 18 years of age - Have acquired 6 months of service in seagoing merchant vessels with a gross tonnage of 20 or more and - Be in possession of valid health certificate for seafarers. Note: Persons who do not pre-course has reached the required time of service in seagoing merchant vessels will be permitted to attend the course but can not obtain certificate of competence before sufficient service is achieved.

After completion of the course, the delegate must meet the qualification requirements in accordance with the STCW Code Table A-VI/2-1

Operation and construction of: - Liferafts - Lifeboats - Man-over-board boats - Life saving appliances Life-saving first aid, haemorrhage, shock and hypothermia.
