CompEx Ex Awareness - Including NEC 500-516 (Adaptive)

This course is aimed at anyone who enters, supports, or interacts with hazardous environments, even those not directly involved in electrical or technical work. By developing a solid understanding of critical hazards, safety principles, and compliance standards, this course will enable learners to contribute to a safer and more informed workplace. This course also includes the NEC 500-516 rules.

There are no prerequisites to participate in this digital course. In order to get the CompEx certification, the learner needs to upload their data to the CompEx website (https://registration.compecertification.com/) and a picture will be required to comply with CompEx requirements. The ULN needs to be sent afterwards to RelyOn to compex.nl@relyon.com.

The course is available in the following languages: English; Spanish. This course is an introduction to working safely in potentially explosive environments. You will learn the general principles and key knowledge that are essential to safe operations in a potentially hazardous workplace. You will also be provided with a comprehensive understanding of hazardous area operations under NEC 500-516.

Identify the risks of working in Ex environments Recognise the signage, drawings, and equipment for Ex locations Describe the general safe working practices for personnel in Ex environments Explain the fundamentals of NEC 505 and the classification of hazardous locations Identify Classes, Divisions, and Zones according to NEC 500 and 505 systems Recognise the role of the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) and key standards such as NFPA, IEC, and ANSI Describe the types of hazards, ignition sources, and material groups found in hazardous locations Select appropriate AEx equipment, cabling, and glands based on classification and certification Differentiate between explosion-proof, flameproof, intrinsically sate, and other protection methods Apply correct wiring and installation techniques in Class I and Zone 1 and 2 hazardous locations Interpret equipment markings, temperature codes, and protection ratings (NEMA/IP)
