The target group is the personal who have had little or no training or experience in rigging and lifting operations.

Objective
The objectives are to provide the delegate with knowledge of the rigging principles, general hazards and risks of rigging and lifting operations, an awareness of relevant legislation and regulation, and an opportunity to practice basic rigging operations following a lifting plan.
Course content
Module 1 The Role of the Rigger and an Introduction to Lifting Operations:
Element 1.1 The role of the Rigger;
Element 1.2 Introduction to lifting operations – relevant legislation and management of the hazards.
Module 2 Rigging and Lifting Operations:
Element 2.1 The principles of rigging;
Element 2.2 Preparing for the lifting operation;
Element 2.3 Carrying out the lifting operation;
Element 2.4 Restoring the work area and post-operation responsibilities.

Exam
Delegates will be given a series of explanations and demonstrations, after which a theory test will be applied to test their understanding of the knowledge elements of the Modules. The Test pass mark is 80%. In addition, the delegates will be required to demonstrate various rigging tasks. Their performance in these practical exercises will be evaluated using direct observation. Understanding, knowledge and performance will be assessed against the learning outcomes specified in the candidate assessment plan.
Validity: 2 years and 8 month.
