Target group
Personnel new (or returning) to the offshore oil and gas industry who will be supplied with a rebreather emergency breathing system (EBS) during offshore helicopter travel and who choose to complete the underpinning knowledge of the BOSIET programme via the BOSIET (with EBS) On-line Programme prior to attending an OPITO-approved training centre.

Objective
The aim of the Digital Delivery of BOSIET (with EBS) is to introduce learners to the specific safety issues and regimes relevant to offshore installations, and to equip them with the basic emergency response knowledge and skills for travelling to and from offshore installations by helicopter.
Course content
UNIT OIS-69 Safety Induction - Digital Delivery: Outcome 1 - Typical offshore oil and gas activities; Outcome 2 - The main offshore hazards; Outcome 3 - The potential environmental impact of offshore installation operations; Outcome 4 - The principles of managing safety on offshore installations; Outcome 5 - Hazard effects and consequences; their associated risks, and how they are controlled; Outcome 6 - Key offshore installation safety regulations and the basic concept of these regulations; Outcome 7 - Key information and policies to ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of those living and working offshore. UNIT OIS-70 Helicopter Safety and Escape - EBS - Digital Delivery: Outcome 1 - Helicopter Travel; Outcome 2 - Helicopter Emergencies; Outcome 3 - Practical Helicopter Escape Techniques. UNIT OIS-71 Sea Survival and First Aid - Digital Delivery: Outcome 1 - Evacuation Methods and Procedures; Outcome 2 - Emergency First Aid; Outcome 3 - Muster and actions upon boarding a survival craft (TEMPSC); Outcome 4 - Sea Survival and emergency In-water actions; Outcome 5 - Immediate First Aid Actions. UNIT OIS-72 Firefighting and Self Rescue - Digital Delivery: Outcome 1 - Common causes of offshore fires and actions to be taken; Outcome 2 - Self-rescue equipment and techniques; Outcome 3 - Raising the alarm and operation of hand-held extinguishers; Outcome 4 - Self-Rescue Techniques. Exam
There is no formal assessment of learning outcomes via the BOSIET (with EBS) On-Line Programme. Learners must attend an approved training centre for formal assessment of all learning outcomes within 90 days of completing the online elements. They will be required to undertake the UNIT OIS-69 Safety Induction – Digital Delivery written test (duration: 30 min) as a method of checking that they have met all the UNIT OIS-69 learning outcomes. Further (practical) learning outcomes will be assessed using direct observation. Validity: 04 years
