The purpose of the course is to provide operators with solid theoretical and practical basic training in accordance with NORSOK standard R-003. The training will offer a general understanding of the standard’s structure and content, contributing to an accepted safety level for personnel, the environment, and material assets in the planning and execution of lifting operations.
Special emphasis is placed on responsibility and attitudes during lifting operations.
Operational Responsibility:
The aim of the training is for participants to acquire sufficient knowledge to lead and guide personnel involved in lifting operations.
Course content
After completing the course, participants will be able to:
Identify the laws, regulations, and standards applicable to the use of cranes and lifting equipment.
Explain various types of accidents that may occur due to improper use of cranes, including responsibilities, causal relationships, and prevention measures.
Demonstrate knowledge to exercise overall operational management of lifting operations.
Understand how to ensure comprehensive planning of lifting operations in different areas and assess safety during simultaneous operations.
Explain Safe Job Analysis (SJA), safety regulations for operating offshore cranes, and the precautions required for crane operators to protect themselves and other personnel from accidents.
Describe relevant regulations and guidelines for personnel transportation.
Understand the assessment of simple lifting devices and the storage of loose lifting equipment.
Be familiar with competency requirements for the use of different types of lifting equipment.
